Community Workshops in Connecticut
Winter can feel long, cold, and sometimes a little isolating here in our quiet corner of Connecticut. That’s truly why Pam and I opened Mountain Laurel Floral Designs, a Connecticut-based flower shop and creative studio rooted in community.
We wanted to create more than a place to buy flowers. We wanted a space that serves our community in a deeper way. A place for you, your family, and your friends to warm up, slow down, and get creative together during the winter months. Our creative workshops aren’t about perfection or prior experience. They’re about embracing your imagination, working with your hands, and spending time in a space that feels calm, welcoming, and full of heart.
When you walk through the door, there’s usually music playing, tables set with thoughtfully gathered tools and materials, and friendly faces ready with open hearts and curious ears. We’re all about building a village here. Let your shoulders drop, leave the workday stress behind, and come have a little fun with us.
2026 Vision Board Workshop
Participants sat at one of our tables filled with magazines, markers, and plenty of glue sticks. We spent time reflecting, setting intentions, and then got to work on our vision boards based on what we want to invite into the year ahead. We shared stories and laughed together. We really inspired each other to dream big and explore more of what the quiet corner of Connecticut has to offer!
Lasagna Bulb Pot Workshop
One of our favorite activities is getting our hands dirty. We started a bit early this year with a spring bulb planter workshop. We taught participants how to layer Tulips, Daffodils, and Muscari (grape hyacinths) at varying depths so they’ll bloom in stages come spring. Everyone left with a planted pot, new gardening knowledge, and something joyful to look forward to as the snow melts.

Classic Spring Layers:
